The Specialty Coordinator has responsibilities to coordinate the overall expeditious care of the patients in the operating room environment. Assigns and coordinates the staff/teams effectively. Assure competency of staff with the Manager/Director or designee. Communicates effectively with physicians, patients, families and co workers. Ensures cost/expenses for procedures fall within budgeted goals. Is responsible for the inventory and ordering of all specialty supplies, as well as maintenance and conditioning of trays, equipment and preference cards. Assesses the needs of the services for the coordination of equipment and instrumentation with outside vendors. Will ensure the smooth and efficient flow of all procedures from pre-op to PACU, including on-time starts and turnover times. Is able to assist in developing and quality improvement issues. May scrub or circulate as needs and position allows. May assist with other duties as assigned by Nurse Manager.
