The PGY-2 Pharmacy Resident is responsible for providing complete pharmacy services in coordination and cooperation with departmental professional and support staff, consistent with departmental policies and procedures for operations and clinical practice, meeting all the requirements and obligations of pharmacists on staff. This includes monitoring patient medication regimens and providing appropriate interventions. The PGY-2 Pharmacy Resident actively participates in rotation activities, including team meetings, rounds, and other interdisciplinary conferences/meetings that occur. The PGY-2 Pharmacy Resident is responsible for the development, operations and management of the PGY-2 residency.  


Major  Responsibilities:

  • Established and increasing knowledge base while incorporating clinical, social-behavioral, biomedical, and epidemiological sciences as well as applying this knowledge to patient care.
  • Provide patient care that is compassionate and efficient while considering promotion of health and treatment.
  • Demonstrate the ability to exercise life-long learning with the desire to research and assimilate evidence to foster continued patient care initiatives.
  • Exercise effective interpersonal and communication skills that impart clear delivery of care and information in collaboration with patients, their families, health professionals, and other physicians.
  • Establish commitment to the practice of medicine with the highest professional and ethical standards.
  • Attention to and application of the larger context and system of health care, as well as the ability to engage in other resources to provide the highest standard of care.

Participate in the education of patients, families, students, residents, and other health professionals.

  • B.S. or Pharm.D. from Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) accredited degree program  Or one in process of pursuing accreditation  Or have a Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Equivalency Committee (FPGEC) certificate from the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP)  Must have successfully completed an ASHP-accredited PGY-1 pharmacy residency program. 

  • Current Nevada license to practice pharmacy required.  If not already licensed, must obtain a Nevada State Board of Pharmacy Intern license  Must obtain a Nevada pharmacist licensure no later than thirty days after start date. 

  • BLS and ACLS certification no later than 90 days after start date. 

  •  Experiential clinical rotation experience in acute care setting
