Charge Registered Nurse (RN) – Day Surgery

Texas Orthopedic Hospital is affiliated with HCA Houston Healthcare part of the HCA Healthcare Gulf Coast Division. The division is a comprehensive network of hospitals, outpatient surgery centers, emergency centers and diagnostic imaging facilities in greater Houston, Corpus Christi and South Texas. Facilities include: 18 hospitals, nine ambulatory care centers, 12 off-campus emergency centers, and a regional transfer center.


What will you do in the role?

• Under the general direction of the unit's Director or designee, the Charge assumes responsibility for direction and coordination of all functions in the unit on designated shifts.
• In collaboration with other members of the management team, this individual is responsible for the ongoing assessment of the quality of patient care services provided in the unit.
• Functions as a resource person for staff members and assists in necessary education of individual members of the nursing staff.
• Assumes responsibilities for the overall quality of nursing care provided when on duty.
• Makes decisions regarding activities for the overall quality of nursing care provided when is on duty.
• Makes decisions regarding activities within these areas on Administrative Operational Standards, Nursing Administration Standards, Human Resource Standards, and Standards of Care for the unit, in collaboration with other members of the management team.

Qualifications

Qualifications:


Education:
• Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing. BSN is preferred. 


What qualifications you will need:
• Current TX RN licensure is required.
• One year of acute care experience is required.  Day Surgery/Pre-Op or Surgical Services experience is required.
• BLS is required. ACLS and PALS are preferred.
