Manager of Transplant Services
Medical City Fort Worth

Under general direction of the Director of Transplant Services, the Manager is responsible for the management of services to ensure that quality health care is delivered. This position requires a clinically proficient individual experienced in Transplant Services as well as proficiency in the areas of clinical data design, capture, management, querying and reporting. The incumbent will have the ability to use various operating systems and clinical applications. The Manager of Transplant Services should be able to effectively communicate with all levels of personnel and function as a liaison at the department and facility levels. Managing information flow among medical, ancillary, nursing, financial and insurance staff. Manager participates in the development and maintenance of the transplant statistical database and performs outcome monitoring for the department. Manager is responsible for development, oversight and management of appropriate clinical research projects and programs. Manager is responsible for the maintenance of computerized records and reports as well as the quality and integrity of clinical data. This individual should have the ability and willingness to function effectively in a team environment and accept other responsibilities as required.

  • Manages and coordinates, through supervisors, the activities of the department.  

  • Reviews and analyzes reports, records and directives.  

  • Monitors and analyzes costs, prepares budgets.  

  • Evaluates, develops and implements process improvements to enhance effectiveness.

  • Responsible for the hiring, promoting, discharging and transferring of employees.

  • Responsible for scheduling and staffing needs of the unit; available for staffing needs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.   

  • Arranges appropriate in-services and continuing education programs to meet the needs of the staff.  

  • Ensures the proficiency of the staff on the unit.  

  • Monitors and assures staff regulatory compliance.

  • Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques and procedures.   
  • Managerial skills sufficient for organizing, developing and supervising a department and staff.  
  • Knowledge of managerial functions such as budgets, statistical measures, report writing, performance improvement tools, etc.  
  • Independent demonstration of literacy in computer software & EHR programs.  
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.  
  • Must able to prioritize and manage several tasks at one time.  
  • Three (3) years of supervisory or charge nurse experience.
  • BSN preferred.
  • Possession of a valid temporary license or permanent license issued by the Texas Board of Nursing.  
  • Education as a registered nurse prior to entrance on duty.  
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support (CPR).
