SHIFT: Nights (rotating weekends)

SCHEDULE: Full-time

Work Schedule: Full-time

Shift: 7pm-7am 


The Flower Mound Emergency Center provides the same stat-of-the-art, life-saving resources as a hospital-based emergency room.  It is close to home and has a minimal wait time.  The 24 hour freestanding ER also has 12 private rooms (including pediatric and women’s health emergency rooms), advanced testing and imaging technology and a pharmacist on staff.  It is owned and operated by the Medical City Lewisville, a Magnet® designated facility.


Position Summary & Responsibilities:


The Charge Registered Nurse – Emergency Department - ER or ED directs shift to shift activities; provides leadership and direction in accordance with organizational and department goals and philosophy; provides support to departmental management team; assists with staff scheduling; participates in on-call as determined by management team.


Responsible for shift to shift activities; provides leadership and direction to departmental staff; assigns and follows up with staff regarding patient care, departmental flow and interacts in leadership capacity with other departments; intervenes in patient, customer complaints/questions and resolves or refers to management team promptly;  participates in direct patient care/assists departmental staff as needed; coordinates patient flow, processes intradepartmental and utilizes nursing supervisor for assistance with ancillary services.  Provides patient care as needed for patient types, which includes but are not limited to adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations.

Minimum Position Requirement:

  1. Licensure/Certification/Registration:  
    • TX RN license or RN Compact State License
    • BLS (AHA) certification
    • ACLS (AHA) certification. If currently have ACLS (AHA) it must be maintained; if not, it must be obtained within 6 months of hire and then maintained.
    • ENPC or PALS (AHA) required within one year of hire.
    • TNCC, ENPC, and PALS, are required within 12 months of hire or signing of updated job description.
    • CEN or CPEN or TCRN required within 6 months of hire.   


2.       Education

    • BSN required if hired into or promoted into position on or after May 2015.


3.       Experience

·         Minimum one year experience in acute care setting

·         Charge nurse experience preferred.
