DescriptionSHIFT: Nights (rotating weekends)
Located in central Austin, St. David’s Medical Center includes a 350-bed acute care hospital and a 64- bed rehabilitation hospital providing comprehensive inpatient and outpatient care. It is home to the internationally renowned Texas Cardiac Arrhythmia Institute and St. David’s Neuroscience & Spine Institute. The hospital provides a complete range of women’s services, including its acclaimed maternity unit, maternal-fetal medicine, a high-risk maternal and neonatal transport team, the region’s largest and most sophisticated Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and The Breast Center; complex surgical services; a comprehensive Bariatric Surgery Center; and a 24-hour emergency department.

The Intensive Care Unit is a 16-bed unit. This team-oriented, collegial unit enjoys meeting the needs of complex, critically ill patients. The technology is state of the art and includes CVVH, IABP and hypothermic protocol. Patients in this unit have a variety of cardiovascular, neurological, medical and surgical diagnoses like post open heart surgery, respiratory failure, renal disease, carotid stents, craniotomies, endovascular coiling, sepsis, and other multisystem problems. Caring for the whole family is important to this unit.
The position is under the direct supervision of the Nurse Manager and the Supervisor of the Unit. According to hospital policies and procedures, the Staff Nurse assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care for assigned patients.

Required: Graduation from an NLN school of professional nursing. At least 2 years recent experience as an RN in an ICU setting.
Preferred: Completion of or actively pursuing a BSN degree.
Required: Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Texas. Current certification from the American Heart Association as a BLS provider.
Preferred: Certification in area of specialty.
