Registered Nurse / RN - Pediatric CVICU/CHSU
Congenital Heart Surgery Unit

Shift: Nights / 7p-7a / Rotating Weekends

Seasonal PRN 
Seasonal PRN Program Runs 9/15/2019 through 5/10/2020 
$57.00/hour base pay
$4,000.00 Completion Bonus
16 week Commitment 
Weekend and Holiday Requirement
12-hour schedules, Minimum 36 hrs/wk and minimum of 72 hrs a pay period
* Ability to transition to regular status post program *

PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS
· Completion bonus to be paid after the successful completion of 16 consecutive weeks of employment while meeting all shift requirements during that time period. Only one (1) completion bonus will be paid per 32 week season. All seasonal RNs are requires to work a minimum of 72 hours per pay period during the seasonal period. Four (4) weekend shifts are required each 4 week schedule period. During the course of the 16 week period, the employee is required to work two (2) holiday shifts (defined by Department Manager of designee).

The Pediatric CVICU (Cardiovascular) Registered Nurse is responsible for planning and providing individual goal directed nursing care that promotes, advocates for, and strives to protect the health, safety and rights of the individual, family and community.  The Pediatric RN possesses knowledge of the principles of growth and development and the particular skills necessary to provide optimum patient care to the population for which he or she is employed.  The Pediatric RN is accountable for their practice and care coordination.  The Pediatric RN is expected to practice autonomously utilizing evidence based practices.

 

 

Medical City Children’s Hospital, a part of Medical City Dallas, is a 220-bed comprehensive and specialized children’s hospital providing advanced pediatric health care for young patients of all ages, from newborns to teenagers. Pediatric specialties at Medical City Children’s Hospital include pediatric cardiac surgery, pediatric emergency services, pediatric cancer care (hematology and oncology), pediatric orthopedics, neurosurgery, craniofacial surgery, pediatric transplant and kidney care, and a Level IV NICU.

 

Medical City Children’s Hospital in Dallas is the only hospital in North Texas with a core team of cardiovascular specialists — including some of the nation’s leading heart specialists — who treat congenital heart defects and heart disease in both pediatric and adult patients. Our facility is home to both Medical City Children’s Hospital and Medical City Dallas, so we are uniquely qualified to treat hearts of all sizes and offer continuing care throughout your child’s life. The Congenital Heart Program accommodates more than 400 children annually who undergo heart operations.  We are also a Gold Level Center of Excellence for cardiac and respiratory ECMO.

 

Dr. Kristine Guleserian Director of the Congenital Heart Surgery Program at Medical City Children’s Hospital, is board-certified in general surgery, thoracic surgery and congenital heart surgery. With more than 15 years of experience, Dr. Guleserian cares for neonates, infants, children, adolescents and adults with congenital heart defects. Among numerous awards and accomplishments, Dr. Guleserian has been named a Top Doctor by U.S. News and World Report and was named a Best Pediatric Specialist in Cardiothoracic Surgery by D Magazine for six consecutive years. Her book entitled “Surgeon’s Story” was published in 2017 and she is the first woman to lead a Congenital Heart Program in the United States.

Qualifications

Education

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Professional Nursing
  • If hired after 6/1/12, BSN required within 24 months of hire into RN position.
  • Congenital Heart Experience and/or high-acuity PICU medical-surgical experience preferred.

License/Certification
  • Current RN license in the State of Texas or compact license
  • Current American Heart Association BLS provider.
  • PALS required within 6 months of hire or transfer
  • CCRN preferred.
