Trauma Registrar


What you will do in this role:

  • Identifies all reportable cases for inclusion in the registry from the ED patient log. Maintains Trauma Registry Log. Case finding meets 97% completeness as required by the Trauma Registry.
  • Abstracts data from the patient’s chart including demographic characteristics, history of injuries, and modalities according to established guidelines/reviews in conformance with the Conroe Regional Medical Center Trauma Registry.
  • Demonstrates ability to calculate Glasgow Coma score and Injury Severity score.
  • Communicate issues and questions for follow up and resolution in effective manner.
  • Communicates with medical records staff when coding questions arise.
  • Reviews charts of all possible candidates and selects qualifying patients bases on current American College of Surgeons criteria.
  • Compiles demographic and medical information on qualifying candidates for entry into the registry. 
  • Accurately prepares statistical reports for the Multidisciplinary Trauma Committee meetings.
  • Reviews emergency log, EMS reports, and autopsy reports to generate a listing of trauma registry candidates.
  • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned. Performance will be evaluated in terms of: a) level of participation; b) completion by due date; c) adherence to instructions; d) accuracy.
  • Participates in Emergency Preparedness. 
  • Interacts with physicians, patients, employees and visitors in a friendly and cordial manner in accordance with the standards as set forth in the Corpus Christi Medical Center Trauma Services Program.
  • Employee reflects HCA values and sensitivity to HCA ethics and compliance principles in his/her daily activities.
  • Adheres to policies on appropriate access.
  • Respects patient confidentiality.
  • Upholds code of conduct.
Qualifications:
  • Certified Specialist Trauma Registrar (CTRS) preferred.
  • Minimum three years’ experience with computer data entry and/or word processing software applications.
  • BLS certification with-in six months of employment.
  • Minimum of 8 hours of continuing education related to trauma registry per year.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft applications (Word, Excel).
