The Cath Lab Technologists assists in all procedures performed in the Cath Lab. The technologist provides a safe patient care environment that supports in the diagnosis/treatment of patients experiencing cardiac procedures. The Cardiac Cath Lab Tech is responsible for direct and indirect patient care, scrubbing for diagnostic/interventional cases and hemodynamic monitoring. The Cath Lab Tech demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to any age-related needs of adults and adult-geriatric patients in the Cath Lab. The individual demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development appropriate to the patient population served. Assumes, under the direction of the Laboratory, responsibility for patient specimen testing, quality control, quality improvement, and equipment maintenance.
Resource Float Pool Cath Lab Techs are required to work the following:
Hours per Pay Period:
Full Time: Minimum of 32 hours per week. On call per facility policy in per scheduling cycle (28 days)
PRN: Minimum of 24 hours per week. On call per facility shift per scheduling cycle (28 days)
Full Time: 2 Major & 2 minor holidays annually.
PRN: 1 Major & 1 minor holiday annually.
Market Float Pool employees will be required to float to all St. David’s Healthcare System Facilities. Market Float Pool Nurses will be scheduled in units in which they have competencies. Market Float Pool Nurse can be placed in a unit below their competency level with a modified assignment.
Required: Graduate of CVT program; or graduate of an educational program in radiology accredited by the JRCERT or graduate of an American Medical Association approved program in Radiologic Technology or a military training program of equivalent standards.
Equivalent experience and education of 5 years in lieu of formal training program (applicable to Radiologic Technology education only); in lieu of education, two years previous Cath Lab experience doing complex cath and peripheral procedures.
Required: Minimum of at least two years of CVT or RT Cath Lab experience
Preferred: Three to five years of continuous clinical experience in the Cardiac Cath Lab/Special Procedures Lab
If RCIS: RCIS Certification from applicable accrediting body
If Radiologic Technologist: Certified Medical Board Radiologic Technologist; Registered Technologist with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists; if hired prior to 4/13/12 and been performing x-rays since 1987 AND was grandfathered in by the state of Texas, only CMRT required.
