TriStar Centennial Medical Center is a 741-bed comprehensive facility offering medical and surgical programs including behavioral health, 24-hour emergency, heart and vascular, imaging, neurosciences, oncology, orthopedics, pediatrics, rehabilitation, sleep disorder, and women's services. An affiliate of TriStar Health, TriStar Centennial Medical Center's 43-acre campus is home to TriStar Centennial Heart & Vascular Center, TriStar Centennial Women's Hospital, The Children's Hospital at TriStar Centennial, Sarah Cannon Cancer Institute at TriStar Centennial Medical Center, TriStar Centennial Advanced Joint Replacement Institute and TriStar Centennial Parthenon Pavilion.


The Specialist Lead is assigned to supervise the operations and flow of the Vascular Lab for the shift. Responsibilities include collaboration with the CCL Manager and Board runner in staffing the Vascular Lab and the coordination of scheduled procedures in the Vascular Lab. They act as educator and resource/mentor to staff members. They take an active lead role in quality improvement and data collection for the Vascular area. The Specialist Lead will be a resource person for supplies and products and will work closely with the Cath Lab Inventory Manager in ordering, stocking, and setting par levels for Vascular products.  The Specialist Lead will be able to function in any role in the Vascular lab or cath lab as assigned. When there are no Vascular procedures, the Specialist Lead will work in cardiac procedures.  They will collaborate with Vascular surgeons and Cath Lab physicians on growth initiatives and new product leadership.

  
What you will do in this role:
  1. Determines needed staffing fluctuations during the shift and communicates changes to leadership.
  2. May serve as preceptor for new staff or serves as educator and mentor to new staff while assisting the preceptor of new staff.
  3. Ensures all paperwork and competency complete on new hires during orientation.
  4. Assists CCL leadership with communication flow and the implementation of area specific policies and practice guidelines. 
  5. Demonstrates knowledge of human growth and development, assessment, range of treatment, and care of patients appropriate to the ages of patients.   
  6. Provides direction and acts as resource to other members of the specialty team to ensure comprehensive and safe patient care.
  7. Coordinates with Boardrunner on daily flow of Vascular cases.
  8. Maintains full accountability to ensure that patients are placed accurately.
  9. Maintains aseptic and safe environment in the CCL-Vascular area.
  10. Provide education and mentor Vascular staff.
  11. Maintain active role with quality data collection and performance improvement projects related to Vascular.
  12. Provides leadership with any new devices, procedures or products in the Vascular area.
  13. Works closely with the Cath Lab Inventory Manager in ordering, stocking, and setting par levels for Vascular products.
  14. Coordinate with Boardrunner and CCL manager on patient schedule for Vascular Lab.
  15. Collaborate with physicians and administrative leadership related Vascular growth and initiatives.

Qualifications

What qualifications you will need: 
  1. Graduate of accredited school of nursing (RN), school of Cardiovascular Technology (CVT), or school of radiologic technology [RT(R)] and licensed in respective area.  
  2. 3-5 years Vascular and/or Cath Lab experience.  Cath Lab experience should include Vascular experience.
  3. Current BLS and ACLS
  4. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  5. Registered Nurse (RN), Cardiovascular Technologist (CVT), or Radiology/CardiovascularTechnologist  [RT(R)] required.  For Radiology Techs- VI (Vascular Interventional) certification sub-specialty in radiology is preferred.  For RNs and CVTs- Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) certification is preferred.
