Grand Strand Medical Center located in beautiful Myrtle Beach, SC is a 369-bed acute care hospital serving residents of Horry and surrounding counties. Our hospital offers the only cardiac surgery program, neurosurgery program and pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) in Horry and Georgetown counties and is a designated Level I Adult Trauma Center and Level II Pediatric Trauma Center by South Carolina DHEC.

Position Summary: Performs necessary clerical duties by computing and maintaining records for a nursing unit.  Overall management of the nursing station including answering telephones, answering patient call lights, ordering supplies and obtaining supplies and other duties as needed.   The monitor technician observes EKG monitors and reports any abnormalities or unusual rhythms to the charge nurse immediately.  Also accepts additional tasks assigned.             

      

Position Requirements:

Licensure:  Monitor tech must complete a supervised orientation and competency test with passing score of 90% at end of orientation and annually thereafter. National certification preferred.                  

 

Education:  High School Diploma required

 

Experience:   Knowledge of medical terminology desirable.                                       

 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or other Attributes:   Effective communication skills; both orally and written.  Computer skills needed.  Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and to work with others within a team to ensure quality patient care.

 

Degree of Supervision Required:

Involves general guidance and direction by Supervisors and/or Department Manager.  The employee will be expected to perform most job duties independently and in accordance with established departmental and hospital policies and procedures.
