Registered Nurse (RN) – Discharge Express Unit.

HCA Houston Healthcare Clear Lake is looking for a Registered Nurse (RN) – Discharge Express Unit.




The Staff RN assigned to the Discharge Express Unit cares for adult and geriatric patients.  The Discharge Nurse position is to provide a more effective discharge process for patients and a supportive work environment for nurses.

 

 POSITION RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Assists floor nurses with transfers to facilities
  • Education of patient/family on discharge medications & Instructions
  • Ensure all discharge related paperwork has been initiated
  • Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care for assigned patients.
  • Responsible for meeting the Standards of Practice for the Medical Surgical Units and managing all assigned personnel, supplies, and equipment.
  • Participates in activities to plan, measure, assess and improve the quality of patient care.
  • Responds to Code Blue and implements life-saving measures,.
  • Monitors special drugs.
  • Assesses patients in an on going manner, per protocol.
  • Assists physician with procedures, as needed. 
  • Assumes the responsibility of working as a staff nurse during critical staffing needs
  • Responsible for assessment of patient with telemetry monitoring.
  • Responsible for maintaining customer friendly atmosphere.
  • Draws blood from venous lines.
  • Models and reinforces behavior consistent with goals for teaching the patient, communicates patient status to appropriate member of the healthcare team, and provides support to the family, as needed.
  • Scanning supplies from P.O.U. area.

Qualifications

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • 2 Years Clinical Experience Required.
  • 5 years preferred
  • BS Nursing preferred.

Special Qualifications

  • Current licensure with Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas.

Current BCLS certification from the American Heart Association required
