Seeking a Courier Dispatcher to join our team dispatching staff and equipment to meet the scheduled and unscheduled needs of the Methodist Healthcare System.  Items to transport include mail, parcels and medical specimens.  Courier Dispatch works closely with department leadership to ensure efficient and effective use of resources; supervises workload for productivity and may supervise designated staff in Administrative Director’s or appointed designee’s absence. 

What you will do in this position:

  • Coordinates, controls and schedules courier related activities for the Methodist Healthcare System. 

  • Receives and processes courier requests, ensuring that documentation is accurate and complete.

  • Responsible for posting and dispatching staff and equipment, ensuring that staff assignment and documentation is appropriate, accurate and complete.

  • Responds to emergency, breakdown, schedule and/or changed situations providing appropriate direction and/or instructions, utilizing department technology. Ability to work with minimum supervision.

  • Calculates end-user/department charges by cross-referencing vendor invoice(s) to department dispatch records. 

  • Utilizes a computer to process data, prepare schedules, email correspondence, and to maintain and retrieve required records for equipment and staff. Minimum 45 c.w.p.m. keyboard speed with an ability to operate standard office equipment, including full knowledge of Microsoft Office applications database to include Excel spread sheet and Word processing. 

  • Provides department reception services by answering telephone, relaying messages via department technology, to include multiple types of telephone equipment and/or email messaging.  Assume Department supervisory duties in his/her absence along with other duties as assigned. 


  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Ability to read and decipher names, address and numbers.
What qualifications you will need:
  • Two (2) years of scheduling/dispatch and customer service experience with relevant fleet experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
Employee completes initial and ongoing training and competencies as defined by service line, facility and department/unit, which are specific to the needs of the patient population served (if applicable).
  • Preferred: Two (2) years supervisory/operations management experience, including skills compatible with ongoing telephone and PC usage is preferred.

Minimum License, Certificates, or Registrations Required: 

  • Valid State Driver’s License in good standing.  Annual driving record checks to be completed for compliance purposes and to ensure the driving record is maintained in good standing.
