This position, under the supervision of the Cardiology Manager and Cardiovascular Services Director, coordinates and supervises the patient care team of RN’s, Cath lab Techs and other team members assigned.  The Cath Lab RN Supervisor is responsible for: daily operation of the Cardiovascular Prep and Recovery Unit (CPRU), Cath Lab, and other units as assigned; responsible for direct/coordinated supervision and assignment of all patient care team members, follow-through on all clinical issues and verbal discipline/coaching with follow up documentation.  This position oversees daily timekeeping (Kronos) entries, coordinates performance appraisal data gathering, develops and supervises unit participation in quality/process improvement, assesses staff need for initial training/continuing education and provides hands on patient care coaching.  This position will be required to participate in creating or assist in maintaining appropriate policies for Cath Lab, CPRU, and other areas as needed. This position is also responsible to meet all, but not to perform on a daily basis, job duties as outlined in the Cath Lab/CPRU RN job descriptions, when required by patient or unit needs, as well as those listed in this job description.


As a Cardiac Cath Lab/CPRU RN, this position is responsible for professional nursing care and related assistance to adult and geriatric patients with a broad range of illnesses.  The RN is responsible for daily operations in the Cardiovascular Prep and Recovery Unit (CPRU) and Cardiac Cath Lab as it pertains to nursing specific tasks, admission/assessment of patients, medication administration, direct and indirect patient care, circulating diagnostic and interventional cases as needed.  Other departmental duties as assigned, such as: ordering supplies/maintaining inventory, providing appropriate information towards future needs and actively supports process improvement within the Cardiology Department.  The RN maintains an active marketing profile for the facility/physicians and maintains professional standards and seeks professional growth.  The RN practices in accordance with organizational medical staff directives, philosophy, goals, and objectives of the Cardiology Department and Del Sol Medical Center.




Required:        Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing; 1 year Critical Care and/or Cath Lab experience


Preferred:         3-5 years Critical Care experience and/or 1-year diagnostic/interventional Cath                    

                         Lab experience, computer skills



Required:        Licensed in the state of Texas as RN; AHA BLS at time of hire; ACLS within six months of hire


Preferred:         RCIS and/or CCRN, TNCC, CVRN
