hospital opening to patients in Fall 2019. This 60-bed, 49,900 sq. ft. facility
will be located at 1001 North James Campbell Boulevard in Columbia, Tennessee.

The Behavioral Health Nursing Director
responsible for the practice of Nursing at TriStar Behavioral Health by
ensuring consistence in the standard of practice across the clinical settings.
As a member of the Behavioral Health executive team, the DON supports and
facilitates an interdisciplinary team approach to the delivery of care. Maintains 24-hour accountability for clinical,
operational, and nursing management oversight for Behavioral Services. Responsible for assessing, planning,
implementing and evaluating all phases of nursing care provided on the program.
Determines staffing requirements and material resources necessary to provide
care to the patients on the program. Provides supervision of, assesses and
evaluates the competence and performance of the nursing personnel. Participates
in the recruitment and community education process. Fosters positive physician
relations and facilitates communication of facility and/or corporate
ADVANCE PATIENT SAFETY THROUGH
SYSTEMS THINKING AND DESIGN BY:
- Initiating and overseeing proactive
evaluation and redesign of systems to improve care processes (e.g. forcing
functions, checklists, error causation thinking, human factors, and applied
informatics, culture) to prevent future errors.
- Monitoring literature and
professional organizations for new or revised best practices related to patient
- Demonstrating expertise in mental
health promotion and maintenance of high quality, comprehensive patient care.
- Working effectively with Clinical
and Medical Directors to monitor and evaluate program standards and guidelines.
- Functioning as liaison between
physicians and nursing staff to ensure optimum patient care.
- Providing leadership and direction
for the development of strategies to promote recruitment, retention and
recognition of excellence in clinical staff.
- Participating in the planning,
implementation, and evaluation of clinical programs and services, assuring
appropriate resources for the delivery of care.
- Fostering a multidisciplinary
approach to patient care, and the coordination of care among disciplines.
IDENTIFY AND MITIGATE PATIENT SAFETY RISK BY:
- Effectively reporting,
investigating, and analyzing patient safety incidents, medical errors, and
potential risks in the facility and presenting findings.
- Providing proactive and reactive
patient safety activities including participation in root cause analysis,
failure mode effect analysis and Sentinel Event Alerts in regards to the
facilitation of process, planning, implementation and evaluation of
effectiveness of process changes.
IMPROVE CLINICAL OUTCOMES BY:
- Fostering open communication,
facilitating alignment of performance expectations and resources, generating
buy-in, and engaging executive leaders, clinical leaders, and the Board in the
facility’s patient safety agenda.
- Assumes responsibility for the
counseling and evaluation of nursing staff in an objective, consistent and

guidance, and support to nursing staff utilizing effective communication

and community education activities.
- Maintaining and upgrading knowledge
of psychiatric nursing by engaging activities that enhances current knowledge.
- Maintaining appropriate staffing
patterns with the guidelines for assigned program to ensure optimum patient
care and understanding FTE requirements for each program and hospital function.
- Ensuring that all nursing services
are provided in compliance with all applicable standards
Qualifications Education & Experience:
•Master's degree in nursing or another appropriate postgraduate health science degree is required or proof of enrollment with a written plan to advanced degree completion is required
•3- 5 years of experience in management and supervisory nursing role; most recent 3 of the last 5 years of leadership must have been in a direct leadership role in a hospital setting or direct patient care environment required.
•Extensive behavioral health experience in child and adolescent field.
Licenses, Certifications, & Training:
•Current Registered Nurse license without restrictions

•Verbal, interpersonal and quantitative skills typically acquired through management experience and completion of an advanced degree.
•Strong organizational, analytical and communication abilities as well as excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
