SENIOR ACCOUNTANT

(Work Schedule: Full Time, Days)


Position Summary:

Under the supervision and direction of the Asst. Controller, the Senior Accountant is responsible for performing routine accounting functions that directly impact the organization’s financial performance.  

 

 

Position Duties:

  • Complete all assigned journal entries in timely manner
  • Maintain Fixed Assets System (FAS) per the Accounting Policy Guide (APG)
  • Maintain all capital expenditure requests (CER) working with department directors and/or mangers
  • Reconcile all month end stats ensuring accurate reporting to Administration
  • Assist various levels of management in the preparation and completion of financial data collection
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts providing appropriate supporting documentation
  • Prepare and maintain all intercompany billing
  • Coordinate and monitor all intra company activity ensuring financial accounts reconcile, researching and resolving discrepancies as needed
  • Evaluate all new and renewal contracts for completeness and adherence to hospital policy
  • Organize and prepare monthly prepaid schedules in agreement to terms of invoicing
  • Analyze and interpret monthly, quarterly and year to date expense activity
  • Prepare and distribute monthly industrial billing to various third parties
  • Review all financial statement accounts entering adjusting accrual entries when appropriate
  • Coordinate expired/obsolete inventory on a monthly basis with supply chain
  • Participate in annual physical inventory process
  • Assist with preparation of annual Medicare cost report, various surveys and tax work papers
  • Assist in annual budget process, preparing schedules and performing analytics
  • Perform weekly, monthly and quarterly Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) duties adhering to all reporting guidelines
  • Establish and maintain long term customer relations, building trust and respect by consistently meeting and exceeding expectations
  • Support Controller and CFO with special assignments

Qualifications

Minimum Position Requirements:

  • Education
    • Bachelor Degree from an accredited college or university with an emphasis in Accounting or Finance
  • Experience
    • 2 years hospital/healthcare accounting experience preferred
  • Special Qualifications
    • Clear and pleasant speaking voice.
    • Able to work independently and prioritize responsibilities.
    • Good organizational skills.
    • Computer experience. 
    • Must be able to work with interruptions and priority changes frequently.
