Job Summary:

The Assistant CFO position is designed to offer training and work experience in the Shared Service Center financial setting, and prepare candidate to be an SSC Chief Financial Officer.

 

Participant will work in key areas designated by SSC CFO and will work side-by-side with CFO on a daily basis. Areas of training consist of SSC Finance, Payroll, Payor Analysis, IT&S, Concuity, general management and communications to name a few. Participant will receive on-the-job and Formal Training through the Education Department.

 

The program typically takes at least twelve to twenty-four months to complete, depending on the person’s prior experience and background. Some travel will also be required.

 

Duties (included but not limited to):

  • Payroll Service Center (Consolidated Processing for 50,000 employees)

  • SSC Financial Reporting

  • Accounting (Month End Close, Reconciliations, A/P, and FTE productivity)

  • Answer client questions regarding Cashiering, Patient Day Reconciliation and Batch Reports

  • Payor Analysis (Logging, Net Revenue and Modeling)

  • Payment Resolution (Clinical Appeals, Overpayments, Underpayments)

  • IT&S (Application Development and Operations)

  • Cost Allocations

  • Interdepartmental Dependencies for entire SSC Operations

  • Understanding of Bad Debt and Charity policies

  • Understanding of SSC influence on Hospital Ledgers

  • Financial Analysis, including components of Net Revenue, Uncompensated Care, Master Files and MOR reporting and analysis.

  • Assist SSC CFO during the budgeting process (SSC, PSC, HSC, RI, PDU, CPC (if applicable) and Uncompensated Care)

  • Various Meetings with Payors, Senior Management, Parallon, Hospital Management

  • System Interactions, Conversions, Masterfiles

  • Sarbanes-Oxley and Internal Audit requirements

  • Communication with Hospitals and SSC Staff (varying levels of translation / interpretation / detail)

 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required

  • CPA Certification and/or a graduate degree is preferred

 

Experience:

  • Minimum five years’ experience in General Hospital Finance/Accounting and hospital Net Revenue Analysis experience required

  • Minimum three years of management experience preferred

  • Relevant education may substitute experience requirement with SSC Executive approval

 

Certificate/License:

  • CPA preferred
