4 West Neuro Unit Description
4 West is a 41-bed medical/surgical unit specializing in neurological patient care. All patient rooms are private. The team-oriented unit handles a wide variety of neurological disorders including CVA, TIA, laminectomy, spinal fusions, brain tumors, multiple sclerosis, seizures, cerebral aneurysms, Parkinson's disease, hydrocephalus and myasthenia gravis. SDMC is certified as a Comprehensive Stroke Center through DNV and a Primary Stroke Center through the Joint Commission, with 4 West being the designated Stroke Unit. Shifts available: various, the unit is a 24-hour, seven day a week department.

The Position is under the direct supervision of the Nurse Manager and the Supervisor of the Nursing Unit. According to hospital policies and procedures, the Staff Nurse assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care for assigned patients
Required: Graduation from an NLN school of professional nursing.
Preferred: 1 year RN experience; Completion of or actively pursuing a BSN degree.
Required: Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Texas. Current certification from the American Heart Association as a BLS provider.
Preferred: Certification in area of specialty.
