Lactation Consultant


The largest medical facility in the region, Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center (EIRMC) is a modern, Joint Commission-accredited, 330-bed full-service hospital located in Idaho Falls.  Idaho Falls offers a rich variety of outdoor activities with Grand Teton National Park, Yellowstone National Park, Jackson, WY and Sun Valley all within a short drive from our hospital. 

PRN Defined:  Work minimum of one shift per two week pay period to assist with staffing for coverage of absences for staff planned/unplanned and/or increase in census.  The more you are available the more you can work if shifts are available.

Job Responsibilities:


*The Lactation Consultant develops and implements guidelines and standards of care for assisting breastfeeding and pumping mothers in all areas of the hospital where they might be served. 

*Develops, implements and maintains an ongoing education plan on breastfeeding for staff. 

*Educate staff on current evidenced-based techniques of breast feeding, latching and mother’s milk production. 


  • Preferred certification or have completed testing for certification by the International Board  Certified Lactation Consultant Examiners within 9 months of hire or transfer to department. 
  • At least five years work experience in the Maternal/Child health arena.
  • Current RN license with the State of Idaho or compact state or ADA license or RD registery. 
  •  Masters degree preferred. Membership in professional associations of ILCA and USLCA preferred.
  • NRP and CPR for Healthcare Providers status is required.  
  • The job requires excellent interpersonal communication, organizational and team building skills.  Must have advanced computer skills.  Initiative, creativity and flexibility are essential. Must demonstrate a high degree of professionalism at all times.
