All New Hires will be required to attend a 4-week Star Tech Program.
The Star Tech Program is designed for certified nursing assistants to work on Medical Surgical Nursing Units.
The program is comprised of didactic training, skills training, and clinical preceptorship at the sponsoring facility. Star Tech is concentrated training prior to hospital employment. The licensed certified nursing assistant is not only oriented to the facility in which he/she will be working, but is better prepared for standard patient care assignments in an acute care setting upon successful completion of the 4-week program.
The first two weeks include a combination of didactic education and skills training.
The remaining two weeks are spent at the sponsoring facility working with a hospital RN Preceptor and “Certified Nurse Assistant Buddy”.
The Star Tech will work 3 twelve hour shifts during each week of the Clinical Preceptorship, which may include weekend shifts or night shifts, based on the preceptorship schedule and needs of the nursing unit.
The Star Tech Program is based upon the standards established by the State Boards of Nursing for C.N.A.’s. Many of the division and/or facility specific training initiatives will be incorporated into the curriculum as well. Learners will be BLS and CPI certified. Nursing assistants will be introduced and trained on the facility Electronic Health Record by HealthTrust.
HealthTrust Workforce is part of Parallon Business Solutions; a subsidiary of HCA (Hospital Corporation of America).
The participating nursing assistants make a one-year commitment work at the sponsoring hospital. Nursing assistants will be obligated to repay a pro-rated portion of the educational costs should they break that commitment.
Thank you for your interest in the Star Tech Program, as we consider your career path, to join a world-class healthcare organization, HCA – Hospital Corporation of America.
- Certification with the State of Texas as a C.N.A.
