The RN Sepsis Coordinator will collect and analyze data surrounding the sepsis patients to assist with documentation, coding, clinical care, and outcomes. Primary responsibility is coordination of the Sepsis Program and to ensure Early Goal Directed Therapy requirements are met.
The RN Sepsis Coordinator is a health care professional who works in collaboration with the medical and hospital staff to provide multidisciplinary care to the septic patient. The Coordinator provides clinical, professional expertise for patients, families and staff members. Scope of practice includes providing organized care to the patient with sepsis with focus on health promotion and disease prevention. The Coordinator also functions as an educator and coordinates care in critical care/sepsis patient care management, ensuring optimal patient care management and outcomes. Provides on going education in both the clinical and community settings.

improvement process. Participates in monthly critical care and sepsis meetings
for the evaluation of outcomes, policy and protocol development, review of
current best practice through networking and ongoing education, and to provide
input into enhancement of current Sepsis Program.
Coordinates process improvement activities, which include assignment to various departments for required follow up to improve performance outcomes. Works to develop and maintain certification with Joint Commission for DSC Sepsis. Applies good verbal and nonverbal skills to achieve service goals of customer service and satisfaction. Collaborates with all members of the interdisciplinary team to achieve productive movement of the best practices within the organization. Maintains active involvement in nursing and hospital committees as necessary.
