PACU - Post-Aneshesia Care Unit

The largest medical facility in the region, Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center (EIRMC) is a modern, Joint Commission-accredited, 330-bed full-service hospital located in Idaho Falls.  Idaho Falls offers a rich variety of outdoor activities with Grand Teton National Park, Yellowstone National Park, Jackson, WY and Sun Valley all within a short drive from our hospital. 

Position Type:  

PRN Defined:  Work minimum of one shift per two week pay period to assist with staffing for coverage of absences for staff planned/unplanned and/or increase in census.  The more you are available the more you can work if shifts are available.

Job Summary:

*Responsible for caring for patients immediately post anesthesia

*Assisting with a variety of specialized procedures.

*Must be able to operate and trouble shoot technical equipment and instruments.

*Demonstrates and performs assessment of the patient and assists in his/her return to a safe, physiological level after an anesthetic by providing safe, individual nursing care to patients of all age groups.

*Assesses patients for educational, physiological, psychosocial, comfort and safety needs

*Assures that the highest degree of quality patient care is maintained at all times.

*Requires knowledge of growth and developmental needs of patients and families.

*Must recognize and respond to the behaviors of patients and families in each age category and be able to demonstrate the special skills required to care for patients and their families according to standards,

*Cares for and supervises care for patients in the following specific age groups:


Licensure / Certification: Current Idaho State Nursing license and AHA CPR for Healthcare certification, ACLS are required.  Must obtain PALS certification within 180 days of start date and is required.  Must complete hospital mandatories and departmental orientation, CPAN preferred.


Education:  Graduation from accredited school of nursing


Experience / Abilities:  One year of medical/surgical nursing required, Critical Care experience preferred.  Position requires sensitivity, maturity, and ability to communicate clearly and concisely, willingness to serve, clean and organized leadership abilities, professionalism, common sense, flexibility, honesty and a service oriented attitude.
