The occupational therapist supports the mission of the hospital to provide patients with the highest quality of healthcare in a caring atmosphere. The physical therapist is responsible for evaluating, planning, directing and administering occupational therapy interventions of treatment as prescribed by a licensed physician. Administers treatments and physical agents as prescribed by a referring physician in an effort to restore function and prevent disability following injury, disease or physical disability. Assists patients to reach their maximum performance and level of functioning, while learning to live within the limits of their capabilities. The occupational therapist is responsible for ongoing re-assessments of patients and the discharge planning/summary. The physical therapist co-ordinates, delegates and supervises responsibilities assigned to supportive staff. The physical therapist participates in operational aspects of the department, maintains performance improvement activities within the department and participates in PI activities. Provides input with evaluating department performance versus budget controls and take appropriate action to remain in budget guidelines. Ensures that patient charges are accurate and entered on a timely basis. Promotes teamwork with physicians and other departments. Participates in all infection control, departmental equipment training, organizational safety and fire safety programs.
QualificationsEducation: Graduate of an accredited school of Occupational Therapy is required.
