Responsible for providing on call spiritual care to patients, families and staff at times of crisis and death. Participates in providing patient specific care standards as directed, and follows service excellence standards to ensure high levels of patient satisfaction.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
· Actively participates in the call schedule.
· Spiritual Support
o Discern patient’s spiritual resources.
o Connects patient with internal and external resources for healing.
o Assists families in times of crisis/death with issues of grief, loss and logistical arrangements, providing emotional and spiritual support.
o Reduces anxiety and fear.
o Mediates conflicts.
o Offers prayer when appropriate.
o Communicates and provides appropriate referrals to other team members.
o Responds to referrals in a timely manner.
o Functions as a contact to the Ethics Committee.
o Contacts clergy at patient/family request.
o Reviews and documents appropriately in the patient’s medical record (e.g. Meditech).
· General Duties
o Attends and actively participates in staff meetings, and attends called departmental meetings when necessary.
o Maintains compliance with required licensure, ethics and compliance training, annual mandatory N-95 Mask Fit testing and mandatory education as required.
o Actively utilizes and complies with facility principles of good communication and customer service standards, including use of AIDET and KWAKT as developed by the department.
o Performs other duties as required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Required: Bachelors degree in area of expertise and one unit of clinical pastoral education (CPE). Anyone hired after June 18, 2013 is required to have a minimum of 1 unit of CPE accredited by ACPE.
