Maintenance Technician II

(Work Schedule, Full Time, Days with on call and rotating weekends)


Position Summary: 

Promotes a professional and comfortable environment for all customers by providing general maintenance activities for Medical Center Arlington.  Performs all assignments in a timely manner and customer oriented fashion.


Position Duties:

Protects the asset value of facility and plant equipment

Provides additional supervisory support

Protects the asset value of facility and equipment by diagnosing and performing preventive maintenance and repairs to  physical structures and equipment on the campus:  ceilings, light  bulbs, walls, doors, windows, floors, beds and miscellaneous non- patient care equipment;

Protects the asset value of fixed plant equipment by  performing preventive maintenance to the following:  HVAC; chillers, boilers, cooling towers, air handlers, pumps and exhaust fans;

Mechanical:  duct work and ventilation distribution systems;

Plumbing:  piping, pumps, water softeners, and water  treatment;

Refrigeration:  refrigeration control systems, refrigerators, walk-in freezers, and ice machines;

Controls:  analog, digital, pneumatic and electrical;

Ensures the operation of fixed plant equipment by performing daily building and equipment checks and recording status of equipment including:  chillers, boilers, air handlers and water treatment equipment;

Protects the asset value of all facility systems by performing preventive maintenance to all fire systems and alarm systems; 

Knowledgeable in the operation of fire systems;

Protects the asset value of operational equipment by performing preventive maintenance to all food service equipment;

Provides additional supervisory support by assisting, teaching and guiding the Maintenance Mechanics I;

Assists in controlling and maintaining the materials inventory by informing Director of material usage, low inventory levels, and following established stocking procedures;

Contributes to department performance by initiating ideas for department improvement.

Authorized to access secure drug and biological storage areas when completing a medication management orientation and when necessary to perform, the assigned duties.



Education/ Professional Requirements:

  • Technical or vocational training as well as hold an HVAC license
  • Must have a current Texas Driver's License.
  • Must have a good mechanical aptitude and general maintenance abilities
  • Prefer at least three years experience in healthcare setting as well as experience with components of mechanical systems, environmental systems, electrical systems and plumbing systems.
