Job Summary:

The Cardiovascular Observation Unit Registered Nurse reports directly to the unit CVOU Nursing Supervisor, and is responsible and accountable for the delivery of patient care to pre- and post-heart cath patients, and patients undergoing other cardiac procedures, through the utilization of the nursing process in accordance with the California Nursing Practice Act, physicians’ orders, established policies and procedures, established professional standards, and administrative hospital-wide policies.



  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing; BSN desired.
  • Current California Registered Nurse License required
  • Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider or American Red Cross Professional Rescuer CPR card required
  • Current American Heart Association ACLS Provider or Instructor card.  Must obtain within three months of hire date.
  • Evidence of one of the following: 
    • Successful completion of an AACN curriculum based critical care course
    • Successful completion of an AACN curriculum based critical care course within six months of hire
    • Equivalent critical care course or clinical experience as assessed by the Cardiovascular Product Line Director, Critical Care Nurse Director, and/or Critical Care Educator
  • Passing score of at least 80% on the Los Robles Hospital & Medical Center pharmacology exam.
