SCHEDULE: Full-time

The Director Patient Safety provides leadership and direction in developing a culture of safety and in identifying opportunities and initiatives to enhance patient safety. The Director develops strategic and operational plans to build prospective, proactive, loss prevention and harm reduction patient safety program.

 

Role Accountabilities Include:

  • Prevent future harm by initiating and overseeing proactive evaluation and redesign of systems to improve care processes (e.g. forcing functions, checklists, error causation thinking, human factors, applied informatics, culture)
  • Effectively report, investigate, and analyze patient safety incidents, medical errors and potential risks in the facility.
  • Facilitate thorough and credible serious event analysis that result in strong sustainable improvement strategies.
  • Facilitate thorough and credible failure mode effect analysis to identify and mitigate unintended adverse patient outcomes and evaluate effectiveness of process changes.

Oak Hill Hospital is the largest medical facility in Hernando County, recently completing a major expansion, bringing its bed total to 280 and adding its popular obstetrics program, The Maternity Suites.  The hospital is one of the area’s largest private employers, and offers Hernando County’s only comprehensive cardiovascular surgery program and one of the most advanced robotic assisted surgical systems. The hospital launched GME a few years ago which continues to expand and now includes family medicine, internal medicine and transitional year programs.

Qualifications

Licensure/Certification/Registration:

Certification in Patient Safety (CPPS) required;

  - If not already CPPS, must obtain certification within first year of hire.

 

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare related field required.


Experience:

Clinical background required.

Three to five years healthcare experience in patient safety, risk, and/or quality required. Healthcare experience should be recent and within a clinical setting such as Hospital, Ambulatory Surgery Center, etc.
