Fort Walton Beach Medical Center is a
257-bed top-performing quality hospital with over 200 of the most highly
respected and qualified physicians in the area. It is the only acute care
hospital in the TriCounty area that offers open heart
surgery, an Advanced Primary Stroke Center accredited by the Joint Commission and an Accredited
Chest Pain Center. An affiliate of the UAB Cancer
Community Network, Fort Walton
offers a Cancer Care Center that is
accredited by the Commission
on Cancer. Fort Walton Beach Medical Center also provides advanced
care for critically ill patients, including cardiovascular and trauma injury
care, and emergency services, including a main ER, Pediatric ER and Destin ER. Fort Walton Beach Medical Center is in partnership with
Twin Cities Hospital, located in Niceville. We are also the parent company of
the Rehabilitation Institute, both located in Destin.
Under general supervision operates MRI equipment, positions patient to produce diagnostic images in a safe manner and performs related duties.
MRI equipment to make images scans of designated portions of the body.
Adjusts equipment and patient to correct positions for each examination.
Instructs and explains procedures to patients. Selects proper technical
factors, on an individual patient basis.
reconstruction and special processing of data.
completes and reviews MRI safety screening forms for patients and/or
and maintains exam information in MRI log.
attach or adjusts immobilization and supportive devices to obtain precise
position, prevent motion and aid in patient comfort.
sterile techniques and prevents cross contamination. Maintains orderliness
and cleanliness, including provision for the contamination free condition
of room, equipment and personnel.
QC functions as required.
documents all medications used in the EMAR.
verbal orders for examinations from a licensed practitioner in keeping
with the state license.
Customer Services principles and behaviors appropriately.
seeks ways to control costs without compromising patient safety, quality
of care or the services delivered.
knowledge of the occurrence reporting system. Uses system to report potential patient
established guidelines for reporting a significant medical error or
unanticipated outcome in the patient’s care which results in patient harm.
current developments in trends and techniques of MRI, including MRI
safety, by completing TipTV education, reading technical journals,
participating in in-service education programs, attending conferences,
etc. on an annual basis.

REQUIRED AND/OR PREFERRED:
Degree or equivalent in Radiological Technology required
registry required within 12 months of hire
Healthcare Provider certification required upon hire
REQUIRED OR PREFERRED:
of cross sectional anatomy and MRI concepts to include head, body, MSK,
spine and MRA imaging.
