Position Description:

Reporting to the COO, the Director Facilities Maintenance must be able to administer all programs within the Engineering Department. He or she directs and coordinates all activities related to facility plant operations. 


Responsibilities include:

  • Plan, coordinate and direct daily activities of the Department ensuring Hospital maintenance needs are efficiently and effectively met for optimum patient safety and comfort in accordance with all local, state and Joint Commission Standards and regulations
  • Manage operations to achieve quality improvement, fiscal, productivity and patient satisfaction goals
  • Oversee all capital, in-house, development, construction and turnover acceptance projects
  • Provide high-quality service to and act as liaison with patients/their representative, physicians and employees
  • Ensure efficient department operations maximizing productivity and minimizing costs
  • Supervise staff
  • Coordinate construction projects, acting as a liaison between Administration and contractors in minor projects and as a member of the Project Team in major projects
  • Serve as the Emergency Management Disaster Coordinator, Chair of Environment of Care (EOC) Committee and Safety Officer, 504 Coordinator
  • Comply with the organization’s risk management program, including timely accurate occurrence reporting
  • Demonstrate skill/ knowledge base of all routine and specialized equipment used in the performance of duties
  • Initiate and monitor appropriate procedures to quickly respond to mechanical, electrical and electronic failures to prevent or minimize inconvenience and maintain life support/safety systems
  • Develop, coordinate and administer preventive maintenance program

Qualifications

  • High school or GED required, Vocational/Technical school strongly preferred
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 5+ years acute hospital engineering/plant operations experience
  • Minimum 2+ years Director/Manager experience in plant operations
  • Strong knowledge of physical plant operating systems
  • Construction project management experience
  • Must have excellent communication skills
  • Strong organizational and computers skills required
