SCHEDULE: Full-time

Regional Medical Center of San Jose is an acute care hospital with a Level II Trauma Center. The hospital provides a host of technologically-advanced services including CardiovascularNeuroOrthopedic, Bariatric and General Surgery, Interventional Pulmonology and services for Women. Regional holds Joint Commission advanced certification as a Comprehensive Stroke Center and a Get with the Guidelines- Stroke Gold Plus Performance Achievement Award from the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association. It is a certified Chest Pain Center, county-designated STEMI (heart attack) Receiving Center, designated Lung Cancer Screening Center, a member of Extracorporeal Life Support Organization (ECMO) and is certified by The Joint Commission in Sepsis care.

 
 

The Director of 3 West Medical Surgical Services is administratively accountable for patient care activities, operations, and staff functions within the institution. The patients’ continuum of care from entry to discharge is followed to ensure all patient care needs are being meet. The position develops objectives, policies, and procedures which support the mission, vision and values of the hospital. The position maintains the professional practice standards, customer relations, compliance with accreditation/licensure requirements, personnel and practice in the institution.  The position works collaboratively with medical staff, other department directors, departmental staff, and serves in a leadership role fashion.


Qualifications

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum:  Current CA RN License, BLS
Preferred:   ACLS, TNCC, PALS, NRP
 

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum:  At least 5 years experience in an acute care setting.

Preferred:   3-5 years managerial or supervisory experience.

 

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum:  BSN or equivalent Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree (or achieved within 5 years).

 
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, problem solving, critical thinking ability, knowledge of Nursing Practice Act, and Emergency/Trauma/Critical Care.

Minimum:  Effective front line supervision, word processing/spreadsheet, time management, clinical proficiency, Title XXII, Quality Improvement

Preferred:   Completion of formal management training
