DescriptionSHIFT: Nights (rotating weekends)
Neurology/Stroke/Seizure Med/Surg Unit
This is a 32 bed medical-surgical unit, focused on Pre/Post Operative patients requiring general surgery, neurological surgery. Epilepsy patients requiring care and/or monitoring treatment. Stroke patients requiring care. General medical patients in any capacity, including telemetry. Telemetry is remotely monitored by CardioPulmonary unit.
According to hospital policies and procedures, the SNU assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care of the patients and oversees his/her staff on the unit during the shift. May have administrative duties assignments. The RN is involved in direct and indirect patient care. The RN provides direction to non-licensed nursing personnel in providing direct patient care. The staff nurse supports the medical care of patients under the direction of the Medical Staff pursuant to the objectives of the hospital. In collaboration with other health team members, follows the philosophy, policies and goals of the facility and department.
Required: Graduation from an NLN school of professional nursing.
Preferred: Completion of or actively pursuing a BSN degree.
Required: A minimum of 2 years experience as a staff nurse .
Preferred: Supervisory skills
Required: Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Texas. Current certification from the American Heart Association as a BLS provider.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Must be able to demonstrate understanding of HCA's and St. David's "Patients First" safety initiative by strict compliance to all safety protocols and procedures.
Works autonomously, sets priorities and makes independent decisions of a complex nature. Interfaces directly with public, physicians, staff, patients, administration and ancillary/ support department representatives. Maintains confidentiality of patient's medical records. Regular and predictable attendance is required. Written and verbal communication skills adequate for performance of the position.
