Positions(s) Supervised: Provides work leadership for Medication Reconciliation Pharmacy Technicians
Required: B.S Degree in Pharmacy or Pharm-D from an accredited School of Pharmacy. Completion of a PGY2 Residency in Emergency Medicine or commiserate experience.
Required: One-year hospital pharmacy experience with completion of a specialized Residency in Emergency Department or five years of commiserate experience.
Required: Current Texas State Board of Pharmacy licensure. Certification in Sterile Products preparations or complete within 2 month of hire. BLS and ACLS required or must be obtained within
6 months of employment.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Must be able to demonstrate understanding of HCA’s and St. David’s “Patients First” safety initiative by strict compliance to all safety protocols and procedures.
Support and upholds SDMC’S Service Excellence.
Critical thinking, time management, and ability to prioritize. Typing and use of computer keyboard and CRT screens. Reading and comprehension of technical and clinical medical information. Math skills: basic math, measurements of amounts. Preparation of reports, clinical documentation and completion of forms and logs. Professional communication via telephone, computer and face to face with staff, patients, and small groups. Excellent interpersonal skills with patients and other health care professionals.
Recognizes that variables such as age, race, nationality, culture, disease-causing vulnerabilities, socioeconomic factors affect the patient populations under their care as defined in the unit’s provision of care statement. Uses interventions appropriate to these factors (e.g., interpreter, dietary preferences, social service consult, etc.)
