Position: Manager, Emergency Services


The Emergency Department Manager provides professional leadership and assumes responsibility for direction and coordination of all the functions in the unit during designated shifts. In collaboration with other members of the management team, this individual is responsible for the ongoing assessment of the quality of patient care services provided.


The ED Manager demonstrates exceptional communication and technical skills, quality nursing care skills, problem-solving skills, effective use of resources, collaboration with other health care professionals, and implementation of professional standards.


The ED Manager leads change through identification, development, implementation, and evaluation of quality and process improvement initiatives and ensures compliance with appropriate regulatory agencies.


The ED Manager participates in the systematic, interdisciplinary, and ongoing evaluation of programs, processes, and desired client-centered outcomes.

The ED Manager participates in formal and informal organizational committees, teams, and task forces to evaluate client-centered outcomes, and to contribute to the innovative changes that occur related to the delivery of care to clients.

The ED Manager identifies educational needs of staff and assists in the coordination and implementation of an educational plan. S/he functions as a resource person for staff members and assists as necessary with individual or group education.


The ED Manager assists with new employee selection, orientation, on-boarding and retention.


The ED Manager provides patient education and coordinates the development, revision, and implementation of patient education programs, materials, and resources.


The ED Manager studies change and seeks out additional knowledge and creative solutions for unusual situations, conditions, treatments, and/or medications. 


The ED Manager demonstrates the ability to use computers and related technology efficiently.

  • Current unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Nevada 
  • Obtains ANCC national certification within 9 months of hire or transfer 
  • BLS (American Heart Association) required 
  • PALS required
  • ACLS required 
  • TNCC required 


  • Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing
  • Must have BSN or required to enroll within one (1) year of employment or transfer, or 3-5 years recent ED Supervisory experience



  • Minimum of 2.5 years of previous nursing management/supervisory experience required 
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Emergency Nursing Skills in physical assessment, lab data interpretation, technological skills and nursing theory and practice are required. 
  • Teaching experience in patient/family and staff education required 


Special Skills:

  • Completes a competency skills checklist within 3 months of employment. 
  • Maintains current competency with nursing skills required for the assigned unit/department, and demonstrates knowledge regarding Standards of Care and Standards of Practice in the assigned area.
  • Management of Aggressive Behavior/De-escalation Techniques course (CPI/hospital approved course within 90 days of hire).
  • Attend Trauma Informed Care course as directed by manager/director
