Doctors Hospital of Augusta is a 354-bed HCA facility located near the Georgia-South Carolina border. Doctors Hospital is well known for its Joseph M. Still Burn Center
, the largest burn center in the country, which sees more than 3,000 patients annually. In addition, the burn center was recently granted a special burn designation as part of the Georgia Trauma Care Network. This designation included a rigorous review program administered by the American Burn Association (ABA) and the American College of Surgeons (ACA).
Doctors Hospital is certified as a Primary Stroke Center, as well as an Accredited Chest Pain Center. Doctors was recently the first hospital in the area to be designated a Center of Excellence in Women’s Health Surgery. And was one of 244 hospitals nationally to be named a top performer for Key Quality Measures by The Joint Commission. Doctors Hospital was also recognized as one of only 17 hospitals in the state of Georgia placed in the Chairman’s Category, the highest category attainable, by the Georgia Hospital Association for clinical outcomes. The Echo/Vascular Technician produces recordings of electromotive variations in patient’s heart muscle, using electrocardiograph (ECG),to provide data for diagnosis of heart ailments and provides services to all ages.
The position is responsible for:
Operates ultrasound machines: GE and Phillips
12 Lead EKG
Adult Echocardiogram studies
Pediatric Echocardiogram studies
Color Flow Doppler
Dobutamine Stress Echocardiogram
Trans Esophageal Echocardiogram (TEE)
Cleaning and storage of TEE probes
TEE processor: Monthly cleaning, annual filter change, documentation on spreadsheet
PACS System - Centricity
Dictation room process
Centralized Scheduling process for Echo department
Patient procedure charging
Demonstrates knowledge and competency in the following: Policies and procedures in performing echocardiogram related studies
Provides patient/significant other, the education regarding study performed in a manner that meets their learning needs
Ability to assess the patient, with attention given to identifying the physical, psychological, social & developmental needs
Possesses a working knowledge of the proper disposition of patient’s diagnostic data and maintains that data in an orderly and efficient manner
Routinely consults with physicians concerning patient outcomes. Ensures that physicians verbal and telephone requests are recorded and completed appropriately
Recognizes emergency situations, initiates and coordinates appropriate actions
Provides for proper care and repairs of equipment
Ability to project departmental needs regarding equipment and supplies etc.
*This is a PRN position, works on an as needed basis*

- Degree in Ultrasound Technology (Cardiac Sonography preferred)
- CCI (RCS) and/or ARDMS certification
- BLS required upon hire.
- ACLS certification within 6 months
- 1-3 years experience as Cardiac Sonographer preferred
