The PICC Line IV Registered Nurse (RN) primary responsibility for the Vascular Access Team nurse includes patient assessment for vascular access, PICC placement and troubleshooting, protocol development based on Standards of Practice, staff education, and data collection. Serves as a consultant working directly with the nursing staff to identify, educate, and promote best practice in Vascular Access. The Vascular Access Team is composed of registered nurses who are specifically trained in infusion therapy access.
The Vascular Access RN exemplifies professional nursing practice through expert clinical practice, strong leadership skills, and management activities. The delivery of care is based on criteria that is age appropriate and is also based on the physical, psychosocial, cultural, safety and leaning needs of individual patients. The vascular access decision process as based upon by the St. Mark’s Hospital infusion therapy process. Maintains close collaboration with infection control coordinator.
Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing. Bachelor of Science in Nursing or actively pursuing with completion within 3 years of hire required.
Current licensure as a registered nurse in the state of Utah or Registered Nurse compact license from participating compact states. Obtains BLS, ACLS certification within 30 days of hire. Completion of St. Marks Vascular access program and is able to demonstrate competency within 30 days of hire.
Minimum of two years clinical and PICC Line IV placement experience required. Emergency room or Critical Care experience preferred, but not required.Apply Now
