Dover Free Standing Emergency Room will provide
fast, convenient care to people in the Dover, NH community.
Portsmouth Regional Hospital Dover Emergency Room, opened in the spring of
2019, is staffed with board-certified emergency room physicians and nurses 24
hours a day, 365 days a year. Conveniently located at 10 Central Avenue
in Dover, NH and directly off Exit 7 of the Spaulding Turnpike, this
10,000 square-foot facility is constructed with the surrounding population’s
needs in mind.
Dover Free Standing Emergency Room:
11 Private emergency exam rooms, including a fully equipped
Access to the state’s only ACS Verified Level II Trauma Center
Fully integrated EMS communications system to support short
patient wait times
Available on-site Imaging (CT Scan, X-ray and Ultrasound
Imaging) and state-of-the-art instrumentation for full diagnostic laboratory
Telemedicine capabilities with specific focus on stroke and
Separate pediatric waiting area and dedicated pediatric

POSITION SUMMARY: Performs chemical, bacteriological, serological and
microscopic procedures in one or more functions of laboratory sections.
Maintains records of performance as defined in the Laboratory's general and
procedure manuals. Ensures that all policies and procedures are performed as
defined in policy and procedure manuals approved by the Medical Director of the
Laboratory. Performs all services as they may relate to patient care /
treatment with consideration for the age/condition of the
patient. Perform other duties as assigned to ensure effective
patient and operational flow of the FSER. Duties could include but not limited
to greeting patients, phlebotomy and assisting with EVS duties, etc.
SPECIFIC ELEMENTS & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Performs routine and/or complex testing in specific
areas of the lab according to department policies.
- Know policies, procedures and practices necessary to
perform specimen processing duties
- Responds to requests for emergency service in a timely
- Organizes workload within the department to meet the
needs of the institution within established timeframes.
- Answers all incoming phone calls and requests for
information in a timely manner
- Reports any incomplete assignments/workload to incoming
shift in order to ensure continuity of result reporting.
- Demonstrates the ability to differentiate results of
various tests to determine the accuracy of test result and reports any
unusual findings/trends to supervisor.
- Maintains clean workstation
- Demonstrates initial and annual competency in all areas
including phlebotomy and processing and all computer related functions
- Performs and documents various quality control and
equipment maintenance procedures to maintain compliance with internal and
- Adheres to hospital policy for reporting patient safety
issues, including errors. Consistently “Puts Patient Safety First”
when performing job duties or providing care
Degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences (for MLT); or Bachelor’s Degree in
Medical Technology, Biology, Science or related field (for MT) (required)
Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers
(MT-ASCP or MLT-ASCP) upon hire; or registry eligible to obtain
certification within 6 months of hire (required)
years of Medical Technologist or Medical Lab Technician experience in a
hospital or acute care setting with phlebotomy skills (preferred)
