The Respiratory Therapist coordinates and delivers high-quality, patient-centered respiratory care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. As a vital part of the patient care team, the Respiratory Therapist performs a variety of diagnostic tests and therapeutic procedures and monitors patients receiving invasive and noninvasive mechanical ventilation.
What you will do in this role:
Maintaining an orderly, efficient and timely flow of patients.
Assist in the diagnosis, treatment and management of patients.
Screening patients for appropriate information
Instructing patients and family regarding medications and treatment instructions.
Maintaining current knowledge to assure a safe working environment and demonstrating practical application of all policies and procedures relative to safety and infection control.
Utilizing universal precautions in any potential contact with patient body fluids or used patient supplies that may be contaminated with patient body fluids.
Perform other duties as required.
Must read and understand and adhere to all Physician Services policies and procedures.
Practice and adhere to the Code of Conduct and Mission and Values statements.
EDUCATION:
No education requirements
EXPERIENCE:
Two to four years of experience in the field is required.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSE:
CPR certification is preferred
Certification and registration as required by state regulations
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of accepted nursing standards and practices.
Knowledge of basic pulmonary disorders.
Knowledge of basic computer skills.
Skill in providing patient care in accordance with the facility’s applicable standards, policies and procedures.
Ability to present a positive image of the facility.
Ability to maintain patient confidentiality
Ability to communicate effectively with patients, peers, physicians and family members.
