Job Summary and Qualifications

The Respiratory Therapist coordinates and delivers high-quality, patient-centered respiratory care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. As a vital part of the patient care team, the Respiratory Therapist performs a variety of diagnostic tests and therapeutic procedures and monitors patients receiving invasive and noninvasive mechanical ventilation.

What you will do in this role:

 Maintaining an orderly, efficient and timely flow of patients. 

 Assist in the diagnosis, treatment and management of patients. 

 Screening patients for appropriate information 

 Instructing patients and family regarding medications and treatment instructions. 

 Maintaining current knowledge to assure a safe working environment and demonstrating practical application of all policies and procedures relative to safety and infection control. 

 Utilizing universal precautions in any potential contact with patient body fluids or used patient supplies that may be contaminated with patient body fluids. 

 Perform other duties as required. 

 Must read and understand and adhere to all Physician Services policies and procedures. 

 Practice and adhere to the Code of Conduct and Mission and Values statements. 

What qualifications you will need:

EDUCATION: 

 No education requirements 

EXPERIENCE: 

 Two to four years of experience in the field is required. 

CERTIFICATION/LICENSE: 

 CPR certification is preferred 

 Certification and registration as required by state regulations 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 

 Knowledge of accepted nursing standards and practices. 

 Knowledge of basic pulmonary disorders. 

 Knowledge of basic computer skills. 

 Skill in providing patient care in accordance with the facility’s applicable standards, policies and procedures. 

 Ability to present a positive image of the facility. 

 Ability to maintain patient confidentiality 

 Ability to communicate effectively with patients, peers, physicians and family members.
