Delivers medically prescribed Speech Therapy in support of medical care as directed by the physician. Acts in a consultative role to the physician for screening, identifying, assessing & interpreting and diagnosing disorders or speech/language, oral-pharyngeal function & cognitive/communication disorders. Able to exercise independent judgment in regards to recommendations to physicians & other professionals for treatment or other follow-up, or in referral for other examinations or services. Works with patients of all ages, race, creed, gender, and disability without bias or prejudice. Utilizes the evaluation of the speech/language/oral pharyngeal/cognitive/communication needs to plan the care, implement, and document effective, appropriate and safe Speech Therapy treatments. Acts as a member of the interdisciplinary team in assisting the patients and their families achieve the highest level of functioning. Participates in planning and implementing new services, staff development programs, and marketing efforts. Performs all job duties and tasks in accordance with national and state professional governing guidelines and state practice act, rules, and code of ethics.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
A. Master’s degree in Speech/Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
B. Licensed as a Speech/Language Pathologist in the State of Texas.
C. Certificate of Clinical Competence, American Speech and Hearing Association
D. Current CPR Certification.
