Job Summary and Qualifications

POSITION SUMMARY: Major Tasks, Duties, And Responsibilities

Under the general direction of the Director of Plant Operations, the Maintenance Mechanic performs general maintenance duties in and around the hospital complex. Affects repairs to minor equipment and systems. Performs routine duties necessary to maintain building in good repair. Assists as required on major installations or repairs. Performs corrective maintenance tasks from work orders generated by other departments of the hospital.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Education and Training:

· Ability to follow directions, and perform tasks with minimum supervision.

· Ability to repair or replace defective parts as required.

Minimum Work Experience:

· Two (2) years experience in maintenance field.

· Prior experience in hospital or building maintenance preferred.

Skills:

· Familiar with various types of tools and test equipment for trouble shooting and repair.

· Possesses a basic knowledge of electricity, plumbing, carpentry and painting as it relates to various duties.

· Ability to work well and interface with various personalities and situations.

· Ability to communicate effectively and express information clearly.

· General working knowledge of types of systems and equipment normally found in hospital environments.

License/Registration/Certification:

· Stationary Engineer license preferred.

· Must obtain Boiler Operators permit within 6 months
