Job Summary and Qualifications

The Senior Accountant will assist in the preparation and reporting of financial information ensuring timeliness, accuracy, and completeness to meet specified deadlines. 

Position Responsibilities: 

1. Prepare month-end close duties under strict deadlines, including preparation and input of journal entries and accruals.
2. Prepare monthly reconciliations for all Balance sheet accounts, including documentation to support all balances. 
3. Maintain multiple general ledgers 
4. Perform both routine and ad hoc detailed analytical reviews and reports
5. Assist campus management, as needed with financial information requests and questions 
6. Assist in completion of the annual personal property and corporate tax workpaper package
7. Participate in development of annual operating budgets and reforecasts
8. Assist in the development, documentation, and implementation of departmental accounting standards.
9. Maintain strictest confidentiality to ensure that privileged and / or proprietary information is adequately safeguarded against disclosure 
10. Participate in ongoing professional development activities to remain informed of changing industry trends and government regulations
11. Prepare documentation for external auditors.
12. Other duties as assigned

Position Requirements: 

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field as required. 

Experience: Five years of progressive accounting experience or auditing experience. 

Special Qualifications: CPA or CPA candidate strongly preferred. Must have a high attention to detail and be process oriented. Ability to manage multiple time sensitive priorities concurrently. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills preferred. Excellent written and verbal skills required.

Physical/Mental Demands & Work Environment: Ability to walk, stand, and sit for long periods of time. Ability to speak concisely and effectively to communicate needs. Ability to operate a personal computer and other office equipment. Normal motor skills and eye-hand coordination.
