The Trauma Performance Improvement Manager provides facilitation and leadership to the multidisciplinary trauma service line. Primary focus is monitoring trauma regulatory compliance and serves as the lead performance improvement specialist in the development and implementation of performance improvement activities that enhance the care provided to the injured patient and their families. This position functions as the Trauma Quality Improvement Program (TQIP) manager and lead facilitator of trauma performance improvement activities at the facility and system level. This position provides oversight and direction of the trauma registry, educational efforts, and initiating change that optimizes trauma care as per the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma’s “Resources for Optimal Care of the Injured Patient.” This position also functions as the acute hip fracture performance improvement specialist. This Trauma Program and Performance Improvement Manager reports to the Director of Trauma Services and works in close collaboration with the Trauma Medical Director and Surgical Director of the ICU, effectively promoting the goals of the program, qualifying all care and system issues and optimizing patient care across the injury spectrum.
What you will do in this role:
Coordinates and completes the trauma PI plan in a concurrent fashion including PI meetings and other PI projects as needed.
As needed, attends sign-out with trauma physicians and participates in multi-disciplinary rounds to ensure patients receive all services needed.
Collaborates with the PI team and trauma services staff to identify PI issues for trauma patients and ensures the resolution of these PI issues in coordination with the trauma program director, trauma medical director, and those specifically involved in the issue. This includes collaborating to determine which issues need immediate management through Trauma Peer Review Committee.
Ensures trauma patients receive a continuum of optimal care within the context of the American College of Surgeons Optimal Guidelines and the Florida State Approved Trauma Center Standards.
Measures and evaluates data and key metrics to identify possible PI projects, and certifies that performance management and quality improvement programs are designed and implemented to ensure that trauma patients are receiving quality patient care.
Prepares reports and presentations for the Trauma PIPS operations meeting.
