The Director of Clinical Pharmacy Informatics will assist in leading the Medication Management and Clinical Pharmacy Informatics work across the enterprise by managing a portion of the Clinical Pharmacy Informatics Team and serving as a leader and subject matter expert in the delivery of informatics services as it relates to medication management.
Major Responsibilities:
Leadership and Team Management
•Aligns HCA Clinical Goals with Clinical Pharmacy Informatics projects.
•Supports the medication management informatics strategy for consistency across all EHRs and EMRs within HCA and provides guidance for implementation, optimization and maintenance.
•Leads the safe and effective build of medications in the EHRs and EMRs.
•Assists with managing the Clinical Pharmacy Informatics team, including direct reports.
•Leads large scale implementation and optimization projects.
•Assists in monitoring the team’s resource allocation.
•Assists with leading the Clinical Pharmacy Informaticists throughout the organization.
•Demonstrates exceptional communication skills and is able to work effectively with leaders of all levels in the organization.
•Ensures that projects are completed in a timely manner, with the appropriate standardization and best practices from the HCA Corporate Office and CSG Clinical Informatics and Pharmacy Services Teams.
Medication Management Informatics
•Provides leadership in the maintenance and optimization of medication management in new and existing EHRs and related software and hardware.
•Responsible for consulting (as requested) with HCA facilities on evidence based order sets and medication management processes.
•Provides leadership in establishing informatics best practices and standards for medication management.
•Promotes the appropriate use of pharmacy automation technology by assisting in design, implementation and evaluation of ongoing utilization.
•Responsible to identify, develop solutions to, and resolve medication safety issues in the Electronic Health Record.
•Assesses medication-use systems for vulnerabilities to medication errors and implements medication-error prevention strategies.
•Serves as the clinical informatics lead in the area of pharmacy services and medication management for assigned projects.
•Ensures appropriate training materials and end user training is developed and implemented.
Collaboration
•Collaborates with service lines and ITG to develop solutions and workflows that optimize medication management in the EHR and related software and hardware.
•Supports the needs of strategic organizational initiatives through pharmacy informatics solutions.
•Provides leadership and medication management technical guidance to the research team.
•Collaborates on interdepartmental initiatives with other corporate pharmacy teams.
•Contributes to the recognition of the organization’s clinical achievements and the profession of pharmacy and pharmacy informatics through presentations and publications with professional organizations.
•Facilitates collaboration of multiple disciplines and develops working relationships with corporate departments, divisions, and facility leaders.
Pharmacy Residency Programs
•Serves as, or supervises, the Residency Program Coordinator for the PGY2 Pharmacy Informatics Residency.
•Supports the corporate PGY1 and PGY2 pharmacy residency programs as a preceptor and subcommittee member.

•Acts independently and creatively and is able to be a self-managing individual with the ability to accomplish goals.
•Utilizes available data to inform decision making.
Education & Experience:
•Bachelor's degree Pharmacy Required
•Doctorate's degree Pharmacy Preferred
•7+ years of experience in a clinical informatics role Required
•7+ years of experience in a leadership role Required
•Informatics certificatation Preferred
Or equivalent combination of education and/or experience
Licenses, Certifications, & Training:
•Pharmacist Required
