Job Summary and Qualifications

PACU REGISTERED NURSE – FULL-TIME  NIGHT SHIFT 

In collaboration with other members of the perioperative team, the Recovery Room RN develops, coordinates, and implements a plan of care based on patient assessment, knowledge of surgical procedures, anesthesia plan, physician orders, application of relevant policies/procedures and AORN/ASPAN guidelines. 

What you will do in this role:

  • Perform a comprehensive nursing assessment of the post-op patient and closely monitor vital signs and levels of consciousness as the patient recovers from the effects of anesthesia 
  • Proactively observe and act accordingly to treat pain, nausea, and other patient post-op symptoms and any side effects of anesthesia 
  • Administer medications as ordered by the physician and assess the surgical site for bleeding / change bandages. 
  • Incorporate teaching into all aspects of nursing practice 

What qualifications you will need:

  • ADN required / BSN preferred 
  • Texas RN license or compact license is accepted 
  • Current BLS, ACLS and PALS issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required
  • Must have at least one (1) year PACU RN experience OR may consider an RN with a minimum of two (2) years current critical care experience 

This role requires you to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 based on local, state and /or federal law or regulations (unless a medical or religious exemption is approved).

Our main campus is a Level III Trauma Center. We provide emergency services at our main campus and at Medical City ER Stonebridge. We have cardiovascular and neurological services. We offer general surgery, orthopedics and women's services. Additionally, a Level II neonatal intensive care unit and behavioral health services. Medical City McKinney is a Primary Stroke Center. We are also a stroke rehabilitation center. We are certified by The Joint Commission for total hip and total knee replacement. We are a part of the Medical City network of hospitals.
