Job Summary and Qualifications

The Trauma Injury Prevention Coordinator works under the direction of Director of Trauma Services and Trauma Medical Director, to promote effective education and injury prevention programs to the customers served. This position coordinates and manages the Aventura Hospital and Medical Center’s Injury Prevention Program and initiatives. This position participates in performance improvement and other activities as indicated by departmental needs. The Trauma Injury Prevention Coordinator is responsible for monitoring and maintaining compliance with State of Florida Trauma Center Standards, American College of Surgeon Orange Book standards, Joint Commission standards, state/federal regulations, and corporate/hospital policies, procedures, and practice management guidelines. 

What you will do in this role:

  • Participate in the injury prevention and outreach of trauma care systems at all levels.
  • Maintain required documentation to ensure compliance with hospital, ACS, and state trauma designation standards.
  • Develop and deploy strategies for communication, education, and feedback for EMS systems, referring facilities, and transfer facilities.
  • Partner with department heads on injury prevention and outreach initiatives.
  • Evaluate the impact of injury prevention activities.
  • Coordinate community trauma prevention education programs for targeted populations in the community.
  • Attend Trauma committee meetings to present information related to education, injury prevention, and outreach.

What qualifications you will need:

  • Current Florida license as Registered Nurse 
  • 3-5 years nursing experience required in a trauma setting
  • TNCC and/or TCAR required
  • CEN or TCRN required within 2 years of hire
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support certification or must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification or must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • Advanced computer skills

This role requires you to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 based on local, state and /or federal law or regulations (unless a medical or religious exemption is approved).
