Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Coding Team Lead, you will be responsible for training and supporting the medical coding staff to ensure accuracy, consistency, and efficiency in relation to code assignment for reimbursement and reporting purposes. You will also coordinate and train employees engaged in coding by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate coordinators. You will perform quality reviews for coding staff in order to validate code and reimbursement assignments

What you will do in this role:

  • Coordination of employees schedules for adequate coverage.
  • Monitor coder production to ensure base line production goals are met.
  • Review charge lag to make sure team meets Service Level Agreement requirements.
  • Review encounters without claims reporting to ensure all services are coded.
  • Review Lag and productivity reports to ensure coders are meeting the 3 day turn around.
  • Provides daily coder volume for daily productivity review.
  • Attends/schedules meetings as needed for coding team.
  • Performs quality coding reviews for all coders.
  • Performs education with new coders and cross trains coder teams to ensure can cross coverage of multiple areas.

What you will need in this role:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Minimum two years coding and/or reimbursement experience required. Relevant education may substitute experience requirement. Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy and physiology is preferred. Knowledge of pathophysiology is preferred.
  • Experience in multi-specialty coding preferred.
  • Inpatient/outpatient professional fee coding experience required.
  • Prior experience reading and interpreting Explanation of Benefits(EOB) required
  • Coding certification through AHIMA or AAPC strong preferred.
