Job Summary and Qualifications

E1. Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care for assigned patients.

E2. Responsible for meeting the Standards of Practice for Oncology/Medical Intermediate Care Unit and managing all assigned personnel, supplies, and equipment.

E3. Participates in activities to plan, measure, assess and improve the quality of patient care.

E4. Performs assessments on patients within appropriate time frames.

E5. Monitors the effect of medication administration and teaching.

E6. Assists physician bed side procedures

E7. Draws blood from venous lines.

E8. Uses special feeding tubes (gastronomy, jejunostomy, nasogastric).

E9. Does assessment and intervention for patients with wound ulcers.

E10. Models and reinforces behaviors consistent with goals for teaching the medical patient, communicates patient status to appropriate member of the healthcare team and provides support to the family, as needed.

E11. Responsible for assessment of patients with telemetry monitoring.

E12. Assumes the responsibility of charging the unit, as needed.

E13. Responsible for maintaining customer friendly atmosphere along with adhering to the ASPIRE expectations.

E14. Scanning supplies from P.O.U. area.

E15. Responsible for enter and/or noting all order entered into the patient record

E16. Responsible for ensuring core measure patients are identified and protocols followed

E17. Responsible for scanning patient armbands and administering medications via E-MAR

E18. Administering and monitor chemotherapy/biotherapy agents if credentialed
