The Emergency Services (ES) Transport Paramedic will operate on the Ocala Health EMS Transport Services Team. The primary duty of the ES Transport Paramedic will be to ensure the safe and effective treatment and transport of Ocala Health patients on the Ocala Health EMS Transport Services ambulance. The ES Transport Paramedic will respond to EMS Call-Center requests, coordinate with other healthcare providers, and facilitate transport appropriately. As needed, the ES Transport Paramedic will function within the main Ocala Health Emergency Department, West Marion Emergency Department, and free-standing Ocala Health Emergency Departments. While working in the Emergency Department, the ES Paramedic collect and convey information to both their team members and the attending Physician regarding the health status of patients. The ES Paramedic will perform all duties identified in their job description, approved medical protocols, and departmental policy. Skills will be validated by competency assessments under the License of the Ocala Health EMS Medical Director. The ES Paramedic will report to the EMS Manager. They will serve as a member of the Healthcare team through active communication; documentation; feedback and assistance as needed or requested. The ES Transport Paramedic will attend meetings, education opportunities, and in-services as required by departmental policy, and contribute to the growth and development of their self and the Ocala Health EMS Transport Services Team. The ES Paramedic will maintain good working relationships with patients, visitors, physicians, co-workers, and other hospital staff. Essential Functions: • Regular, Punctual and dependable attendance • Responds to Ocala Health EMS Transport Services requests for the transport of patients from Ocala Health facilities • Provides care in the out of hospital setting, serving as the primary care provider during interfacility transports • Assesses, plans, implements intervention, and evaluates the appropriate level of patient care according to Florida BLS scope of practice, Ocala Health EMS Protocols, and Ocala Health Emergency Department policies and procedures • Performs diverse duties within the Emergency Department involving an extensive knowledge of protocols, medical technicians, equipment, and the use of a wide range of procedures. Maintains competence in thorough patient care documentation and use of both EMS PCR and ED software • Performs EMS hand off reports at facility destinations and reports appropriately to Paramedics, nursing staff, and ED Physicians • Ensures readiness of ambulance and all associated equipment for service, and performs stocking as needed • Attends meetings and in-services as required by departmental policy • Demonstrates knowledge and application of intermediate patient care, to include vital signs, venipuncture, urinary catheterization, cardiac monitoring, and 12 lead EKG. • Actively seeks ways to control costs without compromising patient safety, qualify of care or the services delivered. • Other duties as assigned.

Job Specific: • Ambulance Readiness: Ensures the readiness of Ocala Health EMS ambulances for service. Performs checks on ambulance mechanical systems and all included medical equipment to verify full and safe working condition. Completes daily supply check-offs, checks for dated equipment expiration, and stocks as appropriate. Maintains an aesthetically clean and safe ambulance and associated work area. Reports all issues of ambulance readiness to the EMS Manager immediately. • Mutual Aid: Remains available to render BLS mutual aid care to other agencies, mass casualty events, and declared disasters as outlined in Florida Statute Ch. 401. • Level of Care: Provides care for patients pursuant to the Basic Life Support guidelines outlined in F.S. 401.25. Operates within Medical Protocols established by the Ocala Health EMS Medical Director. • Ambulance Usage: Operates Ocala Health EMS ambulance in accordance with Emergency Vehicle Operations training. Maintains safety and control of the ambulance at all times, through the use of appropriate speed, braking, and cornering techniques. Applies the practice of “due regard” at all times, and follows all State and local regulations on emergency equipment. Meets all current requirements of Chapter 64E-2 of the FL Administrative Code. Documentation: Documents all patient information and care factually and accurately. Includes all applicable insurance information and signatures as needed. Ensures documentation for every patient transported is completed prior to the end of each shift.

*Associate’s Degree in Emergency Medical Services/Paramedic or certificate of program completion in Emergency Medical Services (EMT/Paramedic) *Florida EMT-Paramedic License *BLS, ACLS, and PALS-American Heart Association or American Red Cross *EVOC (Emergency Vehicle Operation Course) *Minimum 1 year of experience as a field paramedic with an EMS agency and/or clinical experience working in a Hospital

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Behaviors: • Must have current knowledge of EMT-B & Paramedic scope of practice. • Must be skilled inpatient triage, assessment, intervention, and evaluation practices within their scope. • Must be capable of making clinical decisions to ensure patient safety in emergency situations with limited or no assistance. • Knowledge and experience with pre-hospital EMS protocols is preferred. • Exhibits a high degree of professionalism and character. • Computer skills to include data entry, reporting and word processing. • Typing skills sufficient to complete the job in a timely manner. • Must be skilled in time management in order to coordinate and prioritize multiple tasks. Competencies: The ES Transport Paramedic will maintain and demonstrate competencies related to BLS and ALS patient care, and advanced Paramedic procedures per the Ocala Health EMS Protocols approved by the EMS Medical Director. Further competencies identified for this position are summarized and reviewed periodically throughout employment. The required behaviors and measurement associated with core, job specific, age specific, and management (if applicable) competencies and are maintained in the department education file. Driving Record: This position requires driving an HCA owned vehicle. The candidate must provide a seven-year driving history from the Florida Department of Motor Vehicles and have no more than six points on their record, with no indication of unsafe driving habits.
