Job Summary and Qualifications

In collaboration with Nursing and under the supervision of Physical Therapy, the trained Mobility Aide will assist identified patients with appropriate non-skilled mobility interventions.

Responsibilities: 

  • Mobility aide will check daily with first in Physical Therapist for assigned patients, identified by Nursing, using the Morse Fall Scale.
  • Will review current activity orders for patients.
  • Discuss each patient with assigned nurse, to determine patient’s ability to participate.
  • Mobility Aide perform and record patient’s vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, oxygen saturation.
  • Assist patients who are determined to be Independent and/or up to minimal assistance with ambulation, out of bed transfers to and from chair.
  • Provides for safe and comfortable lifting, positioning and ambulation of patients in accordance with the principles of good body mechanics.
  • Report pertinent information regarding patient change in transfer/mobility level, change in vitals, or other patient behavior changes to the patient’s assigned nurse and, as appropriate, to Physical Therapy.
  • Maintain a clean, safe and functional environment, including ensuring for the comfortable movement of the patient.
  • Cleans mobility equipment and assistive devices between patients’ use, in compliance with infection prevention policies.
  • Maintains storage of mobility related equipment in a safe, clean, uncluttered and tidy manner.
  • Works in a safe manner and provides for the safety of patients and other employees.
  • Communicates information and basic instructions to patients, families, and visitors.


Qualifications:

  • High-school diploma or equivalent
