Department Secretary / Medical Receptionist for Midwife Clinics

HCA Houston Healthcare Southeast has nearly 500 physicians on staff supported by a team of 1,500+ healthcare professionals and offers a range of inpatient and outpatient medical surgical and specialty services.  As a full-service 341 bed full service acute- care hospital with two additional 24/7 offsite emergency centers, and three Women’s Care Centers with midwifery care, HCA Houston Healthcare Southeast has provided the community with high quality, compassionate healthcare for more than 57 years.  

The outpatient Multispecialty clinic is detached from the hospital but walking distance to the hospital.  We have 3 exam rooms and designated xray room to serve the multispecialty clinic patients.  

What you will do in this role:

The Bilingual Department Secretary is responsible for providing administrative and patient support in our predominantly Spanish speaking, outpatient clinic setting.  This will include but is not limited to, greeting patients and guests, registration, scheduling, answering phones, producing daily logs and electronic filing, collecting payment, verifying insurance benefits, obtaining prior authorizations, scheduling referrals, prepping medical records for requests, referrals and end of the month charts, and posting charges. 


Qualifications you will need:

  • 1-2 years of experience as a medical receptionist and/or medical secretary
  • Bilingual (Spanish and English) required.  
  • Must be computer literate with experience in Windows applications, word processing and spreadsheets. 
  • Must posses appropriate communication skills necessary for working with professional staff.
  • Billing / Coding experience a plus
