Job Summary and Qualifications

Job Summary:

The Manager of Physical Security Programs, under the direction and supervision of the Director of Physical Security Programs, is responsible for managing the organization-wide physical security program, ensuring all facilities, personnel, and physical assets are adequately protected from all risks and hazards while working to implement the enterprise Physical Security strategic plan and program priorities to include:

1. The identification, assessment, and mitigation of physical security risks to the organization; develop and implement an enterprise-wide physical security assessment framework including policies, procedures, and training.

2. Coordinate with relevant stakeholders and staff to help administer compliance with the developed policies and standards to help ensure consistent application of security practices across the HCA organization

3. Develop and implement security incident response plans and protocols; measure performance and drive continuous improvement of the physical security program.

4. Responsible to lead process improvement, project management, and data analytics, including facility gap and risk assessments.

5. Working collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), Business Owners, Human Resources, Clinical Services Group, Project Management, ITG, and others as needed.

6. In concert with team members, lead efforts to create standardized dashboard reporting, data analytics, and project status updates to be presented regularly to leadership.

General Responsibilities:

  • Manages HCA’s complex physical security program including the development of policies, guidelines, communications, awareness, and training for all HCA facilities.
  • Responsible for implementing highly technical and complex solutions to reduce risk and protect assets by leading project teams.
  • Develop a meaningful set of key performance measures and analyze data from an enterprise, division, and facility level.
  • Proactively identify and resolve program-level issues; Work on an as-needed basis with facilities that have hardships and opportunities for improvement.
  • Stay abreast of healthcare security laws and regulations, trends, and services through building and maintaining internal and external professional relationships
  • Communicates with impact. Collaborates with key stakeholders to effectively cascade communication and key messages to colleagues within the Division and its markets.
  • Liaisons with the broader IPS organization when necessary to ensure consistency in approach and the leveraging of SME’s where applicable and available.
  • Designs, develops, and implements solid business and value measure/metrics, trending, and benchmarking.
  • Identify and develop close working relationships with stakeholder business units to coordinate, break down silos, and drive work forward - ITG field operations and corporate departments, Clinical Services, Group, Enterprise Emergency Operations and Preparedness, Human Resources Group, Physician Services Group, Ethics & Compliance, and Internal Audit.
  • Manage physical security and security technology vendors and relationships.

Education, Experience and Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree – Required
  • Master’s Degree – Preferred
  • 3+ years of experience in a leadership role – Required
  • 5+ years of experience in security, military, law enforcement, and/or Information Security – Required

  • Possesses an “Analytical Mindset” able to identify and analyze issues and gather information to determine causes and possible solutions.

  • Embraces accelerated learning and application of non-traditional security skills such as “big data” concepts, data analytics, “all things digital”, etc.

  • Communicating the strategic direction with management, peers, subordinates, business units, vendors, external partners, and clients.
